Maple Steel Properties ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use our website and order home or property services.

We operate in Ontario, Canada. We handle personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where it applies.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Contact details: name, email, phone number, and the contact address you provide when booking
  • Property information: service address, property characteristics, answers to service questions, notes, and optional photos
  • Order and payment information: order history, quote answers, and payment status. Payment card details are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers
  • Communications: messages about an order, review feedback, and issue reports
  • Contractor applicants: information submitted through our contractor application and onboarding forms, including documents you upload

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and cookies or similar technologies needed for site operation, authentication, and security
  • Usage data: pages visited and actions taken on our site (where analytics are enabled)

Information from third parties

  • Address autocomplete (Google Places) to validate and format service addresses and obtain location coordinates for service-area checks
  • Payment processor (Stripe) for transaction confirmations, authorization holds, refunds, and fraud-prevention signals
  • Hosting and storage providers that process data to run the website, database, email, and file uploads

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide quotes, process orders, and deliver services
  • Confirm that an address is inside our service area
  • Assign and communicate with contractors fulfilling your order
  • Process payments, pre-authorizations, refunds, and invoicing
  • Send transactional updates (confirmations, scheduling, completion notices, review links, payment requests)
  • Verify completion using photos or other proof
  • Investigate issues, enforce our terms, and improve service quality
  • Recruit and onboard contractors
  • Comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

3. When we disclose information

We may disclose information to:

  • Contractors assigned to your order — only what they need to perform the work (address, scope, scheduling, site notes, and relevant photos)
  • Service providers acting on our instructions, including:
    • Stripe (payments)
    • Google (address autocomplete)
    • website hosting and application hosting
    • database hosting
    • file storage for photos and documents
    • email delivery
  • Legal and safety — when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and property

Some providers are located in, or may store data in, the United States or other countries. Those transfers are made to operate the service. We use providers that offer contractual confidentiality and security commitments.

We may share aggregated or de-identified statistics that cannot reasonably identify you.

4. Retention

We keep order, property, payment, and customer records as long as needed to provide service history, resolve disputes, meet tax and legal requirements, and operate the business.

Financial and transaction records are typically kept for at least six years, consistent with Canada Revenue Agency practice. Other records may be kept for a shorter or longer period depending on the purpose.

You may ask us about deletion. We may retain information where the law requires it or where we need it for an ongoing order, dispute, or security purpose.

5. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including access controls, encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed access tokens for customer and contractor links, and restricted admin access.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we become aware of a breach that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by law.

6. Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request:

  • access to personal information we hold about you
  • correction of inaccurate information
  • withdrawal of consent for uses that are not required to complete an active order
  • deletion where the law allows

To make a privacy request, use our Contact us form. We may need to verify your identity. We will respond within the time PIPEDA requires (generally 30 days).

You may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you are not satisfied with our response.

You may opt out of non-essential marketing by contacting us. Transactional messages about an active order cannot always be disabled.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, and checkout. If we add analytics or advertising cookies, we will update this policy and obtain consent where required.

8. Children

Our services are not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Third-party sites

Checkout and other steps may send you to a third-party page (for example Stripe). Those sites have their own privacy policies.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy by posting a revised version on this page. The last-updated date will change. Material changes apply going forward. We encourage you to review this page when you place a new order.
